4. American Psycho (Mary Harron)
In American Psycho, Christian Bale is less Batman, and more Batemen as he plays Bret Easton Ellis’ iconic literature based serial killer, Patrick Bateman. American Psycho has a unique blend of satire and humour with savagely brutal horror as a suitably creepy Bale bumps off bankers and butchers prostitutes. Plus Harron (one of the few female directors of serial killer films) manages to equate materialism and narcissism with homicide, which isn’t easy.

20. Bill Sage, Christian Bale, Justin Theroux, and Josh Lucas in American Psycho
Technically, their trade was “mergers and acquisitions,” but the investment banker bros at Pierce & Pierce could’ve been buyers at Barney’s—they had the taste. Take Patrick Bateman, for example, a well-documented lover of Valentino, Armani, and Oliver Peoples. He had his faults—you know, axe-murdering people—but his suit game was flawless.
